Postcards from Northern Europe

I got hold of the cards that was posted for me and my daughter from Northern Europe last month.  Dimple’s Omi whom i fondly call Auntie Babie, went on a cruise aboard the Grand Princess together with her husband.  She picked a card for us in each of her stop.

These are the cards:

She wrote:

“our second to the laststop Gravdal, Lofoten Islands.  Descendants here grew rich by furnishing limitless dried fish for the Hanseatic cities in Germany.  The Lofoten Islands are remnants of ancient mountains pulverized by glaciers.”

She wrote:

“Our last cruise stop in Stavanger, the 4th largest city in Norway.  I have finally experienced the land of mountains, seas, the Arctic Ocean, the fjords and the midnight sun.”

The line i love most:

“Wish you were here with me.”

I so love this card.  a multi-view card of North Cape.  Auntie Babie wrote “i was here” at that mountain ledge in the upper left of this card. This reminds me of a spot in PS I Love where the guy proposed to the lady on bended knees with a backdrop of the setting sun.

She wrote:

“Finally set foot on the North Cape, Norway’s nothernmost municipality. It is situated at a latitude of 71 10 2 N and from a height of 307 meters affords a fascinating view of the Arctic Ocean.  Here the midnight sun shines from mid May to the end of July.  Wish i could bring you here one day.”

The last but not the least card — at least they arrived together.  Am really so happy about it. ^^

“Longyearbryen of Longyear City is just about 800 miles from the North Pole.  This town is the capial of Spitzbergen and mining coal is the industry.”

I am so happy the cards arrived safely to my address.  ^^

Wishing everyone a happy postcrossing and swapping day!

    Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

  2. Beautifully done, Arlene. I am glad you liked it and I hope Dimple will be happy to see them too. More are coming from Bergen, our first stop, Geiranger Fjord, the second and Tromso, the third stop. I wonder why they’re not there yet. I really hope they will reach you because they were also so nice.
Hugs to you both from Omi & Auntie Babie

  3. You have a generous sender! The cards are fabulous – places that I can only have a glimpse on postcards hehehe. Have a great weekend, Lene.
